Inglorious Basterds - A fascinating alternative history take on the struggle of two resistance groups in 1944 Paris plotting to kill Adolf Hitler and most of the hight ranking Nazi`s in one night. Tarantino loves his long conversation/ monologue set pieces and there are a few in this film. The characters are larger than life, much of the action - when it appears - is pretty over the top and the film sometimes lurches from a great bit to a `not-so-great` bit - but it is very entertaining (although a touch too long). Most interesting character is the Nazi colonel who creeps people out but dominates the screen when he appears. Although I liked the film I would probably not give it any more than 7/10.

The Road - Post-nuclear apocolypic tale about a father, Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings), and his son trying to find some sort of civilisation amoungst the gangs and cannabalism that is abundant.

Cameos by Robert Duval, Guy Pearce and Charlize Theron put together a tale brings together Mortensen's character and his struggles in trying to ensure his son does not suffer, despite constant paranoia.

Pretty good display, I felt and definitely one to watch if you don't necessarily need to get an action fix. 8/10

Teenwolf

Was on Scy-Fy last night. Not our recently clean shaven forum member but MJF's crazy boy/wolf comedy.

It has been Sky+ for future consumption

Mega Pirahna - jaw droppingly bad and absolutely hilarious! From the makers of Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus see flying killer fish with faces that can twist in flight(!), a slightly older 80`s `star` Tiffany hamming it up as a marine biologist and the worlds most cliched & hammed up secret agent who can wrestle with pirahna`s and lie on his back and kick a flying swarm of them away - I kid you not! Watch in awe at the rubbish special effects, cliched dialogue and ridiculously over the top monsters - must see quality nonsense!

Dino Croc vs Super Gator (Sy-fy channel) - As you can possibly guess from the title this isn`t going to be high class or grade 1 acting! However it doesn`t pretend to be and was actually pretty entertaining in its own rubbish way. A secret lab loses a giant Crocodile and a giant Aligator (that can walk on 2 legs) on a paradise island. The 2 monsters proceed to run around eating lots of tourists, security men, soldiers, businessmen and girls in bikini`s. For its low budget the effects are actually quite decent and its good Friday night TV - giant monsters and lots of girls in bikini`s.

Here is my handy guide on how to survive a giant monster attack!:

Don`t:
*Run into a clearing, stop and scream - this simply provides an easy snack for a monster

*Keep firing guns at a huge monster after the first dozen shots have no effect - you will simply annoy the creature and it will make sure you are next!

*walk into the undergrowth to investigate a very loud roaring or bellowing noise

*Be a good looking female in a bikini trying to hide from a monster - if this is you change into a duffle coat or a boiler suit, you are less likely to be eaten!

*Contact the government or the military - 9 times out of 10 its probably their fault anyway and they don`t like witnesses or people who know too much

*Book your holiday on a tropical paradise island with a genetics lab - something bad always happens!

Do
*obtain some C4 or plastic explosive, pump action shotguns or rocket launchers

*look out for an obvious `hero` type person and stay in the same building - but don`t get too friendly, some chums of the hero always get killed just to show he has suffered a bit!

*If an incredibly beautiful woman asks you into her room and starts taking off her clothes - run away imediately, a monster is bound to attack any second!
