|
|
I thought it might be useful to put an edited part of the June 2010 Chairman’s report on the trust website for everyone’s information. See:
http://shiretrust.netfirms.com/
There are a couple of points worth making to add to this:
1) shiretrust will now have a larger presence on the Shire board this season but will still be in a minority.
2) shiretrust does not become the major shareholder until next May. Even then, Trust and club will not be exactly the same - shiretrust will have a controlling share but the two will remain separate bodies. The Trust members that are on the club board must still be accountable to the other Trust committee members and all other Trust members.
If anyone has any questions on this (Trust member or not) please ask – either on the forum or, if you prefer, by PM. Myself or another Trust committee member will do their best (within reason) to answer them. _________________ "Learn to see the `worst` films:

| I think it's important those with skills to offer are not overlooked due to a popularity contest. |

Not this year - the committee decided they would appoint a further two of their number that had useful skills to offer in the meantime. The coming season will be a transitional one and when shiretrust becomes majority shareholder next year I would expect things to change quite a bit. We didn`t see the sense in making changes and holding an election for 1 year and then making even bigger changes next year. This also gives the committee some time to decide on exactly what they will do and how they will do it when the Trust becomes major shareholder. _________________ "Learn to see the `worst` films:

Totally understandable Ramz and from a personal view I think it's great that we have another 2 fans on the board, if myself or the Supporters Club can support them in anyway then please say. Who were the 2 selected Trust members?? and apart from being 2 Trust members on the board will they have specific roles on the board or are they just been used for the experience for next year and beyond?
Also, with the Trust being the clubs owners next season I'm guessing the Trust would like to boost the current number of members, are there any plans been put in place to encourage more people to sign up mate?

The two new Trust board members & what kind of roles they will have are going to be announced soon.
Although shiretrust has what would be considered an above average membership for a club our size we must continue to encourage new members and keep our existing members informed and make them feel they are contributing something positive to ESFC as well as to shiretrust itself. It is members that make or break an organisation and the mere fact that shiretrust exists has put us in a position to gain supporter control of our own club thanks to those who regularly give up a tenner (or fiver) to let us represent them. As I have mentioned above I honestly don`t know where Spencer`s shares would have gone if there were no Trust or what the future direction of the club would have been. I think its better in supporters hands than risk the possibility of it eventually falling to someone similar to our ex-chairman from Paisley.
As to new ideas to increase membership the committee do have some but they must be worked on, thought through and discussed before being brought into action - you may see something in the new season. Its been a busy 6 months or so for the Trust committee with a lot to think about and do. After the AGM the committee need to go on holidays (home or abroad!), recharge the batteries and come back with a fresher perspective ready for the new challenges that we will face in the next couple of years. _________________ "Learn to see the `worst` films:

Lets all have a guess on who the two new board members will be.
My bets are on Ian Ramsay and Andy Miller.

As it is traditional for fans to demonstrate against board members, the lucky people will be able to demonstrate against themselves.

the devil will make work for idle hands to do.
the fact that anyone is willing to take on the responsibility, and the sniping of 'fans' is to be applauded, regardless of who it is. We will find out in good time. The important thing is that all supporters, esp those who want a say in such things, make sure they are members of the Trust.
Edwin posted on another thread: 'Those on the board, faced with constant sniping from shareholders, and imputations regarding their honesty, are going to get fed up and find other things to do. Board members: criticism is going to be your lot. But just think, most of us will be rooting for you, and leadership means taking flak. And shrugging it off, if unjustified, for the greater good.'
This is so true, and hopefully those seeking to take our club forward will see past petty squabling to the future our club can have. |

Being a Director is very hard work and not just on match days. Les as Chairman runs things very well which helps a lot but having to keep all board members in the picture all of the time is hard at the best of times. During my time its not been easy in the least but at the end of the day any board member like myself should feel very proud to represent our club.
PS: The two new members of the board will bring fresh ideas and talents so please support them as I know you will. _________________ SHOP FOR THE SHIRE AT

Is this a secret?
It was discussed at the Shiretrust AGM so must be common knowledge. Before we know it we'll be accused of abusing our power by keeping this info from the "little people". |
